Fortune Cookies, Connected Communities, and My Next Chapter in EdTech

Making a career change after 29 years in education isn't a decision you make overnight. Leaving a community I love and have grown with for nearly three decades was not easy, but I am excited to share that I am stepping into a new chapter.

It is funny how things line up when you make a big life decision. A couple of days after accepting my new role, I opened a fortune cookie at dim sum that read: "You are going to have a very comfortable retirement." While retirement definitely isn't the plan just yet, the reassurance was a nice touch. Then, on my very last day at Greenwood, I packed another fortune cookie with my lunch. When I cracked it open, it brought a renewed sense of excitement. The note simply said: "Pack your bags. You are bound for an exciting destination." Indeed, I am. Let's go!

When I look back at my time as the Executive Director of Information & Learning Technology at Greenwood, one of my greatest milestones is implementing our complete enterprise solution with Blackbaud. By pulling our systems together, we were able to provide a premier, consistent experience for our students, parents, and staff from the initial application stages all the way to graduation. It meant delivering true Single Sign On (SSO), automating our federated apps, and creating a seamless central hub for the entire community.

What I realized during my time serving on the Blackbaud Executive K-12 Advisory Board was how much that specific process sparked my curiosity. It played a huge part in my growing interest in how Blackbaud's Ethos and forward thinking for education can transform the experience for schools everywhere through their unified platforms, AI, and partnership ecosystem. I loved building Greenwood's solution, but I found myself wanting to help other schools do the same.

That realization led me directly to this next destination. I am thrilled to announce that I have officially joined Blackbaud as an Enterprise Account Executive for Canadian K-12 Education.

In this new role, I'm excited to connect with other school leaders, leveraging my own practitioner experience to help them create their own premier experiences for their communities.

To everyone at Greenwood, thank you. Leaving was incredibly humbling, but you have given me the foundation for this next beginning.

My bags are packed and now onward to Blackbaud's Horizon.
